No outbuildings or homes lost to Kiskatinaw River fire in County
No residenital homes, or outbuildings have been destroyed in the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire within the County of Grande Prairie according to GPREP.
In their latest wildfire update overnight, GPREP says firefighters took full advantage of Tuesday’s moderate conditions, with dozer groups building a guard at the head of the fire, while additional teams carried out hand ignition to strategically reduce fuel in the path of the wildfire. Helicopters also performed bucketing operations to cool hot spots and limit fire spread.
The size of the wildfire is estimated to be 21,679 hectares. The evacuation order and alert issued by the County remains in effect.
Winds are expected to shift east and east-northeast today, which may have the potential to push the fire to the west and southwest.
