UPDATE #29

No growth overnight for the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire

Jun 13, 2025 | 12:32 PM

GPREP has provided another update on the ongoing Kiskatinaw Wildfire.

Last night (Thursday, June 12), the evacuation order area shrank once again, with residents residing east of Range Road 132 allowed to return home.

Any evacuees returning to their homes are asked to call 911 if they see any open burning flames.

Today’s (Friday, June 13) rainfall is expected to further support firefighters’ containment strategy.

However, GPREP says despite the recent rain, the region is experiencing drought conditions, and a province-wide fire ban is still in effect.

Enviroment Canada rescinded the Special Air Quality Statement for Grande Prairie.

However, communities in the Peace north of Webster still have a Special Air Quality Statement in effect, due to ongoing wildfires.
