Ground breaking at future site of North Wind Wellness Centre

Jun 23, 2025 | 6:00 AM

Ground has been broken on the future site of a new medical centre in Pouce Coupe.

A ground-breaking ceremony was held Thursday to officially recognize that start of construction of the North Wind Wellness Centre.

The centre will have 55 spaces and will integrate First Nations healing practices with clinical care to support people at all stages of recovery.

BC Minister of Health Josie Osborne says the centre will provide vital, comprehensive support for people on their healing journey, closer to home and community.

Minster of Housing and Municipal Affairs Ravi Kahlon says the centre will offer stable, safe homes and continued support after treatment to help people build a foundation for a healthier life.

The project is a partnership between the Province of British Columbia, the First Nations Health Authority, Northern Health BC Housing, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and the North Wind Wellness Centre Society.
