Construction begins on new Teepee Creek Fire Hall

Construction is now underway on a new County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service Station #2 in Teepee Creek.

County Reeve Bob Marshall says, “this project is about building capacity for the future,” as the old fire hall had served the community for over 20 years, and was originally constructed to be a single bay facility to store water for firefighting, before renovations.

“A growing roster of trained volunteer firefighters and a steady rise in emergency calls over the past decade” has led to the construction of the new space, which the County believes “will strengthen fire protection and emergency response for residents of Teepee Creek and the surrounding area.”

Marshall adds, “this new station will give our firefighters the space, tools, and support they need to continue protecting the community and surrounding areas with a high level of professionalism and care.”

The new three-bay fire hall is expected to be completed by the end of next summer, and “provide the necessary infrastructure to support modern training, emergency response, and equipment storage—while improving response times and expanding support to neighbouring communities such as Sexsmith, Bezanson, and Clairmont.”

The new fire hall comes with a price tag of $4.5 million.
