Grande Prairie experiencing housing surge
The City of Grande Prairie says it is experiencing a surge in housing construction.
$55.1 million in residential building permits have been recorded as of the end of June 2025, representing over 230 new housing units in various stages of construction.
The City says they have not seen a housing surge like this in a decade and that over 700 housing units are anticipated to start development by the end of the year.
At their meeting Monday, Council approved several amendments to the Municipal Fee Rebate program, including a funding increase from $1 million to $1.6 million.
