NWP partnering with AltaGas for the development of a student hub

Jul 3, 2025 | 2:15 PM

Northwestern Polytechnic has announced a new partnership with AltaGas.

The Canadian Corporation is investing $250,000 to help fund the Sparta Controls Northwestern Centre for Industrial Automation & Innovation, leading to the establishment of the AltaGas Collaboration Corner.

The space will serve as a hub for student connection and support, as part of the new facility set to open September, 2025.

The AltaGas Collaboration Corner is a shining example of what is possible when industry and education work together. We are immensely proud to partner with organizations that share our commitment to developing the next generation of skilled workers with the benefit of innovative, student-centred environments that reflect the needs of the north. Dr. Vanessa Sheane, NWP President and CEO

We believe giving back means investing in people and potential. AltaGas is proud to support a space that inspires collaboration, inclusion, and learning — these core values resonate deeply with us and the communities we serve. Jamie Thibault, Operations Manager for Northwest Alberta at AltaGas

NWP says the Centre was designed in partnership with industry leaders to deliver an unmatched regional asset that supports student success and workforce readiness.
