July 31, 1965 – June 16, 2025
Darcy Ray Braumberger, 59 years old, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at Southwood Hospice in Calgary, after a short and courageous battle with metastatic renal cancer.
Darcy grew up on the family ranch in Sexsmith, AB. In 2015, he relocated to Teepee Creek before settling in Calgary in 2022.
A lover of all animals and a true outdoorsman, Darcy loved all of his pets, hunting, fishing, quadding and was known as a master bullet maker, avid firearms enthusiast and marksman. His meticulous nature and his precision made him an expert at reloading ammunition, a skill he took great pride in.
Known for his sharp wit, quick sense of humor, and love of a good political debate, Darcy’s ability to laugh—especially at himself—was one of his most endearing qualities. After retiring in 2023, Darcy purchased a Goldwing motorcycle with a small trailer, excited to spend his retirement learning motorcycle mechanics and exploring the mountains with his fiancée, Ashley. One of his favorite memories was their trip to Montana, made especially to visit “The Yellowstone Ranch” and the famed “Train Station.” It was a trip he often spoke of, always with a smile and a sparkle in his eye.
Throughout his career as an Equipment Operator, Construction Supervisor, and Oilfield Consultant, Darcy earned respect for his integrity, attention to detail, and quiet leadership. He was a strong advocate for fairness, always standing up for the underdog and he never compromised his values.
Darcy met his fiancée, Ashley Dahlen, on a blind date in 1990 while working in Dawson Creek, BC. Though life initially took them in different directions, they reconnected 30 years later where he made his final move to Calgary with plans to be married in June 2025. Darcy often said he didn’t truly know happiness until these past few years.
Darcy will be lovingly remembered by his fiancée, Ashley Dahlen; his son Brandon (Ginger) Rode; his grandchildren Walker and Eva; his mother Marion Braumberger; his sister Rhonda (Grant) Berg; and his nephew Jared and niece Regan.
In keeping with Darcy’s wishes, a private Celebration of Life for family will be held at a later date.
