Part of Popular Drive closed this week for stormwater repair work

The City of Grande Prairie says a stretch of Poplar Drive in the South Patterson neighbourhood will be closed for a week for construction to take place.

Crews will be conducting underground stormwater repairs between 72 and 76 Avenues from 6:00 a.m. Monday, July 14, to 10:00 p.m. Friday, July 18 (weather depending).

The closure is happening to keep crews and residents safe.

A designated detour will be in place during this time frame to guide drivers through the area. Access will be for local traffic only with a speed limit of 30km/h within the closure zone.

An electronic message board has been set up along Poplar Drive to notify northbound road users of the upcoming closure.

The City says transit will also be impacted by this, with several stops along Routes 2,5, and 9 being temporarily affected.
