City of Grande Prairie planting new green space at CKC

Jul 14, 2025 | 12:27 PM

The City of Grande Prairie has received funding to create a new green space at the Community Knowledge Campus.

The City has received a $10,000 grant from Tree Canada’s Community Tree Grants program to support the planting of 14 large trees and six smaller trees along West Knowledge Way.

Plant species selected for the site include white spruce, lodgepole pine, scots pine and northwest poplars.

The project is supporting Grande Prairie City Council’s strategic priority to advance long-term environmental stewardship through biodiversity.

This planting reflects our ongoing investment in quality of life and a healthy, inclusive and caring community. Thanks to Tree Canada and EcoConnexions – From the Ground Up’s generous support, we are proud to continue growing Grande Prairie’s urban canopy while supporting wellness, sustainability and community connection. Jackie Clayton, mayor of the City of Grande Prairie
