North Peace Stampede on this weekend, rodeo results from High Prairie, WPCA wagons in Strathmore

North Peace Stampede

The North Peace Stampede goes Friday through Sunday at the Lac Cardinal Sports Grounds.

Local barrel racing and All Pro Wagons start Friday at 7 p.m.

Saturday, pro rodeo starts at 4 p.m. with the wagons starting at 7:30.

Sunday, pro rodeo starts at 2 p.m. Wagons at 6 p.m.

High Prairie Elks Rodeo results

The High Prairie Elks Rodeo took place Tuesday and Wednesday (July 29 and 30).

There was a three-way tie for first in steer wrestling between Quentin Branden of Barrhead, Straws MIlan of Cochrane and Brendan Laye of Consort. They each recorded a time of 4.3 seconds.

There was also a tie for first in team roping between the team of Trey Gallais of Sundre and Logan Spady from Alliance, Alberta and the team of Levi Simpson of Ponoka and Kasper Roy from Mossleigh. Both tandems recorded a time of 5.4 seconds.

Brett Williams of Nanton won the buckle in bareback, Kolby Wanchuk of Stettler in saddle bronc riding, Jason Smith from Wimborne in tie-down roping, Jayden Wilson of Gleichen barrel racing, Keely Pugh of Ponoka in breakaway roping, Brody Hale of Dorothy, Alberta in novice saddle bronc and Chanse Switzer from Hazenmore, Saskatchewan was first in bull riding.

WPCA

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association circuit makes its way to the Strathmore Stampede this weekend.

Racing starts tonight and will continue through Monday.

Chad Fike, Rae Croteau Jr., Obrey Motowylo and Jason Glass are the top four in the World Standings.

Chanse Vigen is in eighth place overall and coming off consecutive wins in Calgary and High River.
