Strange sighting at Grande Prairie Airport looks like a training flight, say officials

A caller to the EverythingGP newsroom let us know about an unusual sighting by the Grande Prairie Airport on Friday afternoon.

Officials at the airport say it looks like it was a training exercise that came here from Edmonton, circled a few times, then flew back to Edmonton.

Airport officials say that this was not a scheduled flight and that they were not notified of such an exercise. They did say that it was a West Jet flight using a Sunwing Boeing 737 aircraft.

The pilot did not try to land the plane at the Grande Prairie Airport.
