Fort St. John RCMP say a man wanted on outstanding warrants has been arrested after what they describe as a day-long manhunt.

Police say they went to a Fort St. John home on September 11 to look for the wanted person, but they were not in the home.

Officers did learn that the wanted man may be in Taylor.

This led to an attempted stop of a side by side in Taylor, but the driver took off into Peace Island Park.

Mounties tracked it with drones and air services. The machine became inoperable on an island in the Pine River. The suspect was then taken into custody.

Thirty-nine-year-old Johnathon Michael Peters was already wanted on charges of uttering threats, mischief over $5000, refusal to provide a breath sample, obstructing a peace officer and failure to comply with a release order.

He is also facing new charges of flight from a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer and dangerous operation of a conveyance.
