Grande Prairie Downtown Association partnering with GP Storm

Sep 19, 2025 | 10:35 AM

The Grande Prairie Downtown Association has announced a new promotional partnership with the Grande Prairie Storm.

Starting Friday evening, the Association will light up the City Centre Downtown Entrance sign in the Storm’s colours for every home game of the 2025-2026 season.

The Storm are an important community partner,” explains Bobbi Jo Matheson, Chair of the Grande Prairie Downtown Association. “They contribute significant economic benefit to the Grande Prairie area generally and to our membership in particular. Plus, going to a game is good entertainment for all ages at a reasonable cost. This is our way of showing our support to the Storm as they pursue the Inter Pipeline Cup as champions of the AJHL.

“We are very excited to partner with the Downtown Association to have the City Centre sign lit up in Storm colours for each of our home games this season,” shares Nicole Menzies, Executive Director of the Grande Prairie Storm. “We are very grateful to get to call Bonnetts Energy Centre our home rink, and that its location allows our fans access to incredible dining, shopping, and nightlife before and after the games. We look forward to continuing to be good friends and neighbours to the many businesses downtown and appreciate the support from the community.”

The Storm play their first game of the 2025-2026 AJHL season Friday, Sept. 19, 2025 at the Bonnetts Energy Centre.
