UPDATED -Heavy police presence in Grande Prairie

Update #2 at 10:40 a.m. – On Monday September 22, 2025 at 6:55 a.m., Grande Prairie RCMP were notified of an armed robbery that occurred 10 minutes prior at a residence on 70 Avenue, between 88 and 90 Street in the city.

The suspect, a man wearing a ski mask, had approached a woman with a blunt weapon, that was later described as an imitation firearm in hand, and tried to rob the victim woman. Nearby witnesses intervened and the suspect fled the area on foot.

RCMP members as well as Police Dog Services attended the scene but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect.

Grande Prairie RCMP is now asking members of the public for assistance in their investigation.

Anyone with video footage in the area, home security or dash cam, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., is asked to please review it and submit anything that may be suspicious or of interest to the local detachment by calling 780-830-5701. Update at 8:15 a.m. – RCMP in Grande Prairie say the heavy police presence is over and the suspect is no longer believed to be in the area.

On Monday September 22, 2925, at 7:30 a.m., Grande Prairie RCMP said they were tracking down a suspect of an armed robbery in the Signature Falls subdivision.

Mounties say the area is between 92 and 87 Street and 72 and 68 Avenue.

Police ask for the public to avoid this part of the city and report any suspicious individuals to them immediately.
