Rodeo, hockey, football, Wolves sports all on the weekend sports schedule

Rodeo

There is a college rodeo in Dawson Creek this weekend.

The Northern Lights College Rodeo is set for Saturday and Sunday at the Lakota Agriplex.

It starts with the rodeo slack at 11 a.m. on Saturday, with the first main performance to follow at 6 p.m.

The second main performance starts at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Seven teams from BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan will take part.

This is the third stop for the Canadian College Rodeo Association circuit for 2025-26.

Storm

The Storm will visit Camrose on Friday and Saturday.

Face-off times will be 7 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.

The Storm have a loss and a shootout loss so far and are the only team in the North Division without a win.

The Kodiaks won both of their opening games of the season and are tied for first in the South Division.

NWJHL

There are three games in the Northwest Junior Hockey League Friday.

The County Wheat Kings will be in Fairview, Fort St. John in Sexsmith and La Crete in Dawson Creek.

Saturday, Sexsmith in Beaverlodge. Fort St. John in Peace River, and La Crete at the Wheat Kings.

Those games all start at 8 p.m.

Sunday, La Crete is in Beaverlodge. Face-off at 2 p.m.

Ref. Course

The Wembley Minor Hockey Association is looking for refs for this upcoming season.

Anyone interested is invited to sign up for the Referee Course set for Monday, Sept. 29 at the Fluid Pro Arena.

Football

CKC Field will host a high school football game Friday.

The St. Joe’s Celtics take on the Peace Wapiti Academy Titans.

Kick off at 7 p.m. at CKC Field.

Wolves

The Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves soccer teams host NAIT Saturday and Sunday.

Game times are 2 and 4:15 p.m. Saturday, noon and 2:15 p.m. Sunday, starting with the women’s game both days.

The women’s team has won four games in a row and is tied for first place in its division.

The cross country running team will host Grand Prix Series Race # 3 Saturday. It will start at noon.
