County of Grande Prairie Council Candidate Profile:

Dallas Pierson, is one of 2 residents running in Division 7 for a County Council position.

He was asked to answer the following four questions with a 600-word limit.

1. What has inspired you to run for mayor/council/school trustee in the Oct. 20, 2025, municipal election?

I want to help, plain and simple. My career has been focused on helping others in need and serving the community. As I reflect on my professional background and education, to support an entire community and effect change one needs to be an active member in advocating for the people. To do so requires empathy, authenticity, knowledge, an understanding of how to influence policy, strategically evaluate outcomes, and navigate all the complexities of government.

2. What skills or experience do you have that you feel would make you a good fit for the role?

I bring 35 years of experience in public service as an emergency responder which includes a breadth of experience in public engagement, agency and government committees, plus many community volunteer organizations. I also have experience and understanding in many of the County programs and services. Additionally, I bring an understanding of policy, governance and formal education in engagement and emergency management. Combining my professional experience with spending the majority of my life grounded in the County of Grande Prairie, common sense, and hard working rural perspectives, are all a great fit for representing the community.

3. What do you feel are the key or main election issues in your community, and what are the issues of priority for you?

People want to see value for the dollar and understand issues that concern them. Supporting the community and communicating the direction of the County are my two top priorities. To do this my approach is that decisions should be made around how it affects people. Communicating back to people is also critically important as it provides accountability and helps determine the effectiveness of programs and services. Everyone has their own perspectives on issues in the community that affect them. I want to provide a voice for those issues, look for common themes, and find pathways to influence programs and services that address those commonalities.

4. Where can people learn more about you?
