Oct 6, 2025 | 1:05 PM

Harvest continues to progress at a steady pace, according to the latest Alberta Crop Report by AFSC.

In the report dated September 29, major crops provincially are 89 per cent harvested; a jump from 78 per cent a week before.

The Peace Region leads harvest at 93 per cent completed, a 15 per cent increase from the report prior. Producers province-wide are on track to be done in just a few weeks..

The estimations for crop completion in the Peace are:

  • Spring wheat – 97.3 per cent
  • Barley – 95.1 per cent
  • Oats – 89 per cent
  • Canola – 87.8 per cent
  • Dry peas – 100 per cent

Hot and dry conditions persisted across Alberta during the week data was collected for the report, which impacted surface and sub-surface soil moisture ratings. Soil moisture reserves declined by 10 per cent in the provincial good to excellent category compared to the week prior.

In the Peace, the good to excellent surface soil moisture rating is the highest in Alberta at 27 per cent.

Pasture conditions rated good to excellent are also 27 per cent in the Peace, well ahead of the provincial average of 15 per cent.

Looking ahead, cattle producers are hoping for more precipitation before winter freeze-up to have some pasture regrowth and replenish soil moisture ahead of the spring of 2026.
