Fourth accused in child pornography investigation pleads guilty

Alberta Justice says a fourth man charged in a 2023 child pornography investigation has pleaded guilty.

Patrick L’Hirondelle admitted to a charge of possession of child pornography on October 2 in Grande Prairie court.

He was given a six-month jail sentence and two years probation.

Charges of distributing and accessing child pornography were withdrawn.

L’Hirondelle was one of five people charged in a November 2023 set of arrests by ALERT after an investigation called ICE Tundra.

The investigation started in October of 2023 and included seven searches of seven different homes from November 27-30 of that year.

Two others charged; Stuart Koechle and Naitram Ramnarane, were also given one year sentences, while Christopher Nanemahoo was given an 18-month sentence after they all pleaded guilty.

A fifth accused is set to stand trial in December.

Manning residents plead guilty after 2024 incident in Grande Prairie

Alberta Justice says two people from Manning have pleaded guilty to charges related to a 2024 incident in Grande Prairie involving a stolen truck fleeing a scene of a suspected break-in.

Mason Gordon Lane pleaded guilty to a charge of mischief related to property damage. He will be sentenced on December 15 in Grande Prairie court.

Three other charges were withdrawn.

Chelsea Lauren Goddard pleaded guilty to interference with property under $5,000 and was given a conditional discharge and six months probation.

They were arrested after an incident on June 2, 2024.

Grande Prairie RCMP said at the time they were called out to a report of a break and enter in progress.

Mounties found a truck had taken off from the scene, one that had been stolen in Spirit River.

Police tracked the vehicle until it was abandoned after the driver tried to avoid a tire deflation device.

Two people were arrested with the help of witnesses and Police Dog Services. Some stolen tools were recovered.

The two were also suspects in a break-in and attempted vehicle theft the day before in Spirit River.

Preliminary hearing dates set in Valleyview drug lab investigation

Alberta Justice says preliminary hearing dates have been set for a Kelowna man charged after a drug lab was found near Valleyview.

The hearing for Stephen Mogg is set for May 25-29, 2026, in Valleyview court.

He was charged with production of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking after an ALERT bust in November of 2024.

ALERT said at the time police had “located and dismantled an alleged fentanyl super lab ” near Valleyview.

Investigators went on to say in a release they seized lab equipment worth “tens of thousands of dollars.”

The fentanyl seized had an estimated street value of $700,000.
