Person contagious with measles reported at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital

A person contagious with measles has been confirmed to have visited public areas in Grande Prairie this week.

Alberta Health Services says the infected individual visited the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Emergency Department from approximately 10:20 p.m. Oct. 6, to 2:25 a.m. Oct. 7.

Anyone who also visited the ER during that time and has fewer then two doses of the measles vaccine may be at risk of infection.

If symptoms do develop, individuals should stay at home and call the measles hotline at 1-844-944-3434 before visiting any healthcare provider.
