County of Grande Prairie Council Candidate Profile: Bob Chrenek

Oct 10, 2025 | 4:52 PM

Bob Chrenek is one of three Division 9 residents running for a County Council position.

He was asked to answer the following four questions with a 600-word limit.

1. What has inspired you to run for mayor/council/school trustee in the Oct. 20, 2025, municipal election?

My name is Bob Chrenek and I am seeking to be RE- ELECTED for the position of Councillor in Division 9 in the County of Grande Prairie. I have found that as a Councillor, I have become more aware of the wants and needs of the County, both in my Division and in the County as a whole. This has inspired me to continue on and be part of decision making to keep our communities progressing, improving and to remain a safe place to live. The commitment and dedication that many community members in my Division have shown, has inspired me to become even more involved in our community.

2. What skills or experience do you have that you feel would make you a good fit for the role?

I am very proud to be part of many Committees both locally and provincially, including:

– Agriculture (ASB Chair, Regional Chair, Provincial Representative, AgKnow Mental Health Member)

– Municipal Planning Committee (Vice Chair, CPAA Provincial Board Member)

– Teepee Creek Firehall Committee (Chair)

These, to name a few, are Committees that I have been part of for the past 4 years. I am also involved in a family farm operation and have many years of oilfield experience both as an employee and management, which has given me a solid base of management skills and working with people on a professional basis. I am a well rounded and good fit for continuing in the role of Councillor for Division 9.

3. What do you feel are the key or main election issues in your community, and what are the issues of priority for you?

In the upcoming election, some of the community issues that I have been hearing are:

– Road maintenance

– Accessibility to Health Care (Nurse Practitioners, Doctors)

– Drought Assistance and Mental Health support from both Provincial and Federal Government for Agricultural producers

– Phone service in some of the outlying areas

4. Where can people learn more about you?

If anyone is interested in learning more about me, I am always available to meet up for coffee or I can be reached at (780) 897-3577
