Grande Prairie Legion branch asking for Remembrance Day artwork from school kids

Oct 17, 2025 | 6:00 AM

The Grande Prairie branch of the Royal Canadian Legion says in a social media post that the teacher’s strike means it has not received any posters, poems, or essays for Remembrance Day this year.

Students submit their works every year and the best ones are given awards on Remembrance Day, November 11.

The Legion has posted entry forms and rules on its social media page and is inviting school kids to take part by submitting something with the theme of remembrance.

The downtown Co-op is hosting a fundraiser for the Legion today (Friday, October 17) from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

A donation of at least $5 will get supporters a hamburger or hot dog, a drink and chips.

The Legion also says poppy sales will kick off on the last Friday of October, which falls on Halloween (October 31) this year.
