Recently released suspect back in RCMP custody

Valleyview RCMP have one suspect in custody after an assault with a firearm.

Mounties say the suspect was recently released after a previous arrest, and had conditions in place not to possess a firearm.

Twenty-nine-year-old Valleyview resident Jeneva Chowace is facing nine new charges and was remanded into custody with a court date in Grande Prairie on Thursday, Oct 23.

Charges included:

• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Assault with a weapon
• Resist arrest
• Failure to comply with an order
• Possession of a firearm while prohibited

Chowace and two others were charged after a seizure of drugs and weapons Oct. 6 on Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation. All three are due in Valleyview court Nov. 6.
