NFU backing postal workers, praises strike action

Oct 23, 2025 | 1:46 PM

The National Farmers Union is congratulating postal workers for striking in protest of what it terms in a news release ” the government’s push to end the rural post office closure moratorium.”

The NFU is also praising CUPW for striking against reduced delivery service.

The farmers’ union says that post offices are community hubs in farming communities, keeping people in these areas connected to the rest of Canada and the world.

The NFU adds that post offices are “vital to all of Canada, especially farmers and rural people.”

“A public postal service is a public good and a duty of government. We stand beside CUPW workers to reject the government’s attack on a national asset. Dismantling the public postal service would be a disservice to Canadians that would undermine our national sovereignty for the sole benefit of corporate billionaires,” says NFU president Jenn Pfenning in that same release.
