Fight night fundraiser, Storm sweep Devon, NWJHL, NPHL and Wolves in the local sports round-up

Fight night fund-raiser

Strike for Hope is putting on The Neurofight 2025 fundraiser Saturday at the Eastlink Centre Fieldhouse.

The evening will include supper, along with amateur and professional boxing and kickboxing.

Money raised will go to the Parkinson Association of Alberta, MS Canada and Make-A-Wish Canada.

Storm

The Storm completed a home ice sweep of Devon with a lopsided 8-0 win Thursday night.

Leland Gill made 21 saves for the shutout.

Max Fogle had a goal and three assists; Cole Penner and Colin Doherty each had two goals and two assists.

Grande Prairie also beat Devon 6-4 Wednesday night.

The Storm will play their next half-dozen games on the road, starting Tuesday night in Calgary against the Canucks in a rematch of last season’s AJHL final.

NWJHL

There are two games in the Northwest Junior Hockey League Friday.

The Wheat Kings will be in Sexsmith, while Fort St. John travels to in Fairview.

Saturday, Fort St. John will visit the Wheat Kings and Fairview is in Dawson Creek.

All those games start at 8 p.m.

Beaverlodge is in La Crete for a 7 p.m. start on Saturday and a 1:30 p.m., face-off on Sunday.

NPHL

There is one game in the North Peace Hockey League Friday. Grande Prairie in Valleyview.

Saturday, High Prairie is in Spirit River, Dawson Creek visits Manning, and Fox Creek travels to Fort St. John.

All games start at 8:30 p.m.

Wolves

Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves basketball will host SAIT Friday and Red Deer Polytechnic Saturday.

Game times will be 6 and 8 p.m. both days.

Volleyball will visit SAIT Friday and Lethbridge Saturday.

Those games will also start at 6 and 8 p.m.

The women’s contest will kick off all four sets of games.
