Blue-green algae advisories lifted for Northern Alberta lakes

With cooling weather and water reservoir temperatures lowering, the risk posed by blue green algae has significantly lowered.

That according to Alberta Health Services which has lifted cyanobacteria advisories for 33 water bodies in the North Zone.

Even with the advisories lifted, AHS is advising residents to never drink or cook with untreated water from any body at any time.

Anyone who comes in contact with cyanobacteria, or ingests it, may experience rashes, sore throats, swollen lips, fever, nausea and vomiting.
