Nov 28, 2025 | 12:26 PM

The City of Grande Prairie and the Downtown Association are holding their annual Christmas Tree Light Up event on Sunday, Nov. 30.

Residents are invited to stop by Bonnetts Energy Centre to see the lights come on before enjoying the Battle of the Badges charity hockey game between local law enforcement and the Grande Prairie Fire Department.

“Annual traditions like the Christmas Tree Light Up remind us how special it is to be part of a community that comes out to join in holiday spirit and fun each year,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “We’re grateful to work alongside the Downtown Association to create a celebration that brings families, friends and neighbours together in the heart of our city.”

“We love seeing the community gather downtown to welcome the holiday season together,” said Hywel Williams, Executive Director of the Grande Prairie Downtown Association. “Our work with the city helps ensure this special tradition continues, offering residents the perfect opportunity to explore our vibrant downtown and enjoy its many shops and experiences.”

The festivities begin at 4:00 p.m. in HA Rice Plaza with complimentary hot chocolate and cookies, followed by a visit from Santa, a holiday movie, and the hockey game starting at 5:30 p.m.

Admission to the hockey game is by donation.
