Community Futures hosting pitch competition for new business people on Saturday

Dec 5, 2025 | 2:40 PM

Some aspiring business people from the Peace Country will be taking part in a pitch competition on Saturday.

They are all part of the Community Futures Training Program and Pitch Competition for Indigenous Entrepreneurs.

The program includes people from BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) backgrounds who are either starting a business or looking to grow one they have already started.

A training program started with 23 participants, with 12 completing the training. All but one of the 12 are from this area.

There will be at least seven participants who will be part of the pitch competition.

Organizers say some will be looking for investors, while others will be looking for mentors.

The competition will be held over Zoom starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Two of the winners will each get $5000 worth of gift-in-kind advertising from Pattison Media Limited.

This is the only program of its kind in North America.
