City releases survey for feedback on affordable housing

Feb 23, 2019 | 6:00 AM

The City has released a survey to gauge what housing-related supports are relevant to the people of Grande Prairie.

Affordable Housing Coordinator Reed Des Roches explains the survey is being released as one of the first steps to the City’s Affordable Housing Strategy, where information is being gathered from the public.

“The survey is a part of phase one, so the initial process of that was doing the analysis of the statistics that are available, and now we’re gathering information beyond that,” says Des Roches. “More specifically, we’ve been speaking with people in the community. So that includes this survey, but we’re also doing workshops with people representing various community organizations, and people in the housing industry.”

The City says the survey takes about five to ten minutes to complete and consists of 24 questions.

“The bulk of the questions are on how people are affected by housing costs and what their preferences for housing might be – and then there is a series of demographic questions. So that information is really important for us to better understand what segments of the population are most in need,” says Des Roches.

The survey runs until the eighth of March and a link to it can be found in the online story at Everything GP dot com.
