Over 80 teams to compete in 8th Annual Crystal Cup

Feb 22, 2019 | 10:36 AM

The 8th annual Crystal Cup pond hockey tournament is taking place this weekend in Fort St.John.

President & Co-Founder of the event Neil Evans shares how the tournament has grown over the years.

“The inaugural year we had 28 teams come out and then just last year we had a whopping 82 teams between the adult and the youth division. Which makes us one of Canada’s largest pond hockey events.”

Not only are there competing teams from the peace region, but from all over Western Canada.

“We have a decent reach. Over the years we have attracted teams from as far as the island, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, but a bulk of them from the local area.

This year’s tournament will again feature 82 teams.

40 will compete in the Open division, 4 in the Women’s and 38 in the Youth division.
