County of Grande Prairie asks residents to avoid “non-essential travel”

County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Services are responding to multiple collisions today (Wednesday, Dec. 17) and are now asking residents to avoid non-essential travel.

A similar message was shared by Grande Prairie RCMP and other detachments earlier, asking residents use caution and stay home if possible.

According to 511 Alberta, a majority of local highways are still covered with snow.

The County says crews are working on clearing roads, but with flurries in the forecast into this weekend, it will “take an extended amount of time.”
