Storm open road trip with a win

The Storm opened a four-game road swing Tuesday night with a victory.

They scored four unanswered goals to win 4-1 in Drumheller

Brandon de Haas had a goal and two assists. Rylan Bisset had a goal and an assist, and Max Leduc had a pair of helpers.

The road trip continues tonight in Olds. Face-off at 7.

NWJHL

There are two games in the Northwest Junior Hockey League Wednesday.

Peace River is in Fairview, and Beaverlodge is in Dawson Creek.

Both start at 8 p.m.

KIJHL honours for two players from the Peace

Two Peace Region products have been highlighted in the Kootenay Interior Junior Hockey League’s Team of the Week.

Netminder Thomas Samborski from Grande Prairie posted back-to-back shutouts with 59 saves over the two games.

Forty of those saves came in a 1-0 win for his Grand Forks Border Bruins over the Beaver Valley Nitehawks on Dec. 12. Samborski also made 19 saves in an 8-0 win over the Nelson Leafs on Dec. 13.

Red Earth Creek’s JP Desabrais of the Williams Lake Mustangs received his second team of the week honours thanks to a pair of goals and six points over a two-game stretch, while maintaining a positive plus/minus goals differential, at plus 8.

He had a goal and four assists in an 8-1 win over the Chase Heat on December 12. He also had a goal in a 3-0 win over the Osoyoos Coyotes on Dec. 13.
