Avalanche Canada is reporting that one person died following an avalanche on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2025.

One snowmobiler was caught in the avalanche and fully buried. Despite rescue efforts from the other two snowmobilers, the person passed away.

The avalanche was approximately 300 metres wide and 240 metres long. The crown of the avalanche was between 75 cm to 2 metres thick and the area was heavily wind-affected at the time of the incident.

Avalanche Canada says it is believed to have run on a rain crust from mid-December, burried around 75 cm below the surface. The danger rating was considerable for an avalanche in this area.
