Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour goes Jan. 9-11

The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour returns to Grand Prairie Friday.

The tour features 35 films of varying lengths submitted to the 50th annual festival held in Banff, Alberta that celebrate achievements in outdoor storytelling and film making.

Wapiti Nordic Ski Club’s Geo Rawlins says it showcases the work of big names like the BBC or Red Bull as well as new and upcoming film makers as the film a variety of sports.

Rawlins adds Grande Prairie’s adventurous community and proximity to mountains makes it a popular stop on the tour.

The tour will be in Grande Prairie Jan. 9-11, with a different selection of six to eight films each day at the Douglas J. Cardinal Performing Arts Centre at Northwestern Polytechnic.

All proceeds will support the Wapiti Nordic Ski Club’s program and maintenance

Rawlins says the tour is perfect for anyone interested in exploring the wilderness or outdoor sports.
