William Douglas “Doug” Cooke

November 27, 1943 – January 8, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Doug’s peaceful passing at the age of 82 at Prairie Lakes Senior’s Community on January 8, 2026, with family by his side.
Doug went to school at the comp. After graduation, he went to NAIT in Edmonton and became a mechanic. He worked at Windsor Ford for many years. He then obtained his welding certificate and went on to work for the City of Grande Prairie for approximately 30 years.
Doug had many pastimes. He played hockey for the Grande Prairie A’s and loved downhill skiing. He also enjoyed playing golf. Amidst this, he was also a world traveler, and had been to many places including Hawaii, Australia, Japan, and Mexico.
Doug is survived by his wife of 30 years, Colleen, his son Corey Cooke, stepdaughters Loanne (Shea) Walker and Sherri Kyle, granddaughters Peyton (Dayln) Walker Livingston and Nyah Walker, and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Doug was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Nellie Cooke, son Leigh Cooke, brother Bob Cooke, nephew Darren Cooke, and many aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10:00 am at Bear Creek Funeral Home, followed by a time of refreshments and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada in Doug’s name.
