Registration open for 3rd annual Camp FIRE
The Grande Prairie Fire Department’s initiative to empower young women and gender diverse individuals to enter the fire service returns this April.
Registration is open for the third annual Camp FIRE, a free to attend program for individuals aged 16 to 20 that introduces participants to the realities of a career in fire fighting.
The program focuses on building confidence, teamwork and problem-solving skills while providing practical exposure to emergency response equipment and scenarios.
“Through Camp F.I.R.E., young women have the opportunity to explore careers in fire and emergency services in a supportive environment,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “It’s a chance to build confidence, feel a sense of belonging and start to see a future for themselves in their community.”
