Swim meet, Try-It Day on this weekend; some facilities not available for the public at times says City Hall

The Eastlink Centre will be a busy place this weekend.

It is hosting the Grande Prairie Piranhas Winterfest Swim Meet Saturday and Sunday, and some sports for the Grande Prairie Regional Sport Connection Winter Try-It Day Saturday.

City Hall says because of this, some facilities at the Centre will be unavailable for public use, starting on Friday. The list includes the following:

50-Metre Competition Pool

·         Friday, January 16: Long-course lane swim only

·         Saturday, January 17: Unavailable from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

·         Sunday, January 18: Unavailable from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

·         No Water Polo at 8:30 a.m.

·         Visitors are reminded that the 50-metre competition pool will be cooler than usual during the swim meet to support the participating athletes.

Diving Boards and Towers

·         Unavailable Friday, January 16 through Sunday, January 18

·         Dive tower reopens Sunday at 4 p.m.

·         Springboards reopen Monday, January 19 at 4 p.m.

FlowRider

·         Saturday, January 17: Unavailable all day

·         Sunday, January 18: Unavailable from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Eastlink Centre

·         Squash & Racquetball Courts 2–4 closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (one squash court remains available)

·         Fieldhouse B1 in use from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.– No impact to Drop-In Pickleball– Community drop-in will have access to one-quarter of the Fieldhouse during that hour

·         Second Floor North Concourse closed from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.– No table tennis available during this time

The city also says the Dry Floor at Keyera Place (formerly the Activity and Reception Centre) will be in use from 11 a.m. until noon on Saturday, so drop-in pickleball will not be available.
