PRSD Board reorganizing Capital Plan

Jan 19, 2026 | 1:31 PM

The Peace River School Division Board of Trustees is reorganizing their capital priorities in response to the impending closure of the Northwestern Polytechnic Fairview Campus.

Following the announcement of the campus closing June 2026, the board provided new directions to administration for the March 2026 iteration of their three-year capital plan.

Fairview Jr./Sr. High School, previously the board’s top capital-priority, has been moved to third while they redirect their focus to Peace River High School and Worsley Central School.

The board says a partnership with NWP was a central pillar of their plans for Fairview, and they believe it is now prudent to wait for clarity regarding the future of the campus facilities.

They are emphasizing this reorganization is not a removal of Fairview from the priority lists and is a delay to ensure the project fits the community’s long-term needs.

A detailed preamble explaining these adjustments is to be presented along with the 2026-2029 Capital Plan at the board’s meeting in March.
