Confirmed measles cases at Fairview locations

People with confirmed measles have been reported visiting public areas in Fairview this week.

According to Primary Care Alberta, on Jan. 19 an infected person was in the Hair Chic N’ Boutique from 11:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and Pizza Haven from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Officials say anyone who was at either of those locations during that time frame and who has had fewer than two doses of the measles vaccine may be at risk of infection and should monitor for symptoms like a fever of 38.3 degrees Celsius, a cough, and a rash.

Pregnant individuals, children under 5, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk.

If symptoms do develop, individuals should stay at home and call the measles hotline at 1-844-944-3434 before visiting any health care provider.
