Three charged in 2023 New Year’s Eve Dawson Creek death

Mounties in British Columbia are reporting they’ve made three arrests in connection of the murder of 37-year-old Robert Eric Douglas Girbav.

Girbav’s body was found inside a red Dodge Calibre on Dec. 31, 2023, in Dawson Creek after RCMP received reports of a suspicious vehicle.

The BC RCMP North District Major Crime Unit took charge of the investigation and on Jan. 31, 2026, NDMCU coordinated arrests in B.C. and Alberta. 

One count of first-degree murder has been approved for each of the following individuals:

• 31-year-old Tanner Allan Murray
• 34-year-old Robert James Sinclair
• 36-year-old James Elliott Touchette

The three were arrested without incident as they were already in custody for unrelated matters.

Investigators believe the accused and the victim were known to each other.
