Feb 6, 2026 | 1:50 PM

The Alberta Mid-Sized Cities Mayor Caucus held its first meeting on Thursday, Feb 5, since October’s municipal elections brought in new faces.

As part of their meeting, eleven new mayors were welcomed to its 24-person caucus, and they “reaffirmed the group’s commitment to collaboration and long-term planning to meet the needs of Alberta’s mid-sized communities.”

A part of the meeting was spent having a dialogue with the Minister of Municipal Affairs, Dan Williams and MCMC MLA Caucus Chair Brandon Lunty, about a continued partnership with the province “to deliver practical, cost-effective outcomes for Albertans.”

Williams added that he values the caucus’s “collaborative approach and constructive dialogue,” adding that the province looks forward to continuing to work with mid-sized municipalities to deliver practical, responsible solutions.”

Mayor Jackie Clayton and MCMC Vice-Chair said “our conversation reinforced a shared commitment to responsible growth, infrastructure sustainability, and service delivery; working together with the provincial government is more important than ever.”

Moving forward, the MCMC says they will continue “to provide a collective voice to the Government of Alberta,” while representing the over one-million residents who reside in communities that “bridge rural and urban realities.”
