Cold warnings still in place

UPDATE Wednesday, February 18: The cold warnings issued on Tuesday in northern Alberta are still in place

The forecast says it should stay this way until the end of the week.

All areas north of Edmonton, not including the Peace Region south of Webster, are included in the weather alert from Environment Canada.

Wind chill values near or below -40 are expected to ease Wednesday afternoon before returning overnight.

The national weather office is reminding people that ff it’s too cold for people to stay outside, it’s too cold for pets to stay outside.

Most of the snowfall warnings have ended, but there are some still in place for the Fox Creek, Whitecourt, Mayerthorpe, Faust, and Kinuso areas.

There are now cold warnings in place for the High Prairie area; Birch Hills, Saddle Hills, Clear Hills, Northern Lights and Mackenzie Counties; the MDs of Spirit River, Fairview, Peace and Smoky River, and Northern Sunrise County.

Windchills close to -40 are possible until Wednesday afternoon.

The B.C. Peace is under a winter storm warning.

Snow and windchills between -35 and -40 are possible.
