Local hockey, ski hills this weekend

Storm

The Storm will host Lloydminster Friday night.

Face-off time will be at 6 p.m. 

The second- place Storm are three points back of first-place Whitecourt.

Both teams have clinched playoff spots.

The Bobcats are third in the north, six points back of Grande Prairie.

NWJHL

In the Northwest Junior Hockey League playoffs, La Crete will visit the County Wheat Kings Friday and Saturday.

The series is tied 1-1.

Both games will start at 8 p.m.

Fort St. John and Peace River are also tied 1-1.

Game 3 is set for Saturday in Peace River, starting at 8 p.m.

Faceoff for Game 4 is set for Sunday at 3:30 p.m., also in Peace River.

NPHL

Manning has taken a 2-0 lead in its North Peace Hockey League semi-final series with the A’s after a 4-3 win Thursday night in Grande Prairie.

Game 3 will be played Saturday night in Manning.

Dawson Creek won 7-3 in Spirit River Thursday night to tie that series at a game apiece.

Game 3 is set for Saturday in Dawson Creek.

Both of Saturday’s games will start at 8:30 p.m.

Ski Hills

 Nitehawk ski hill is open until 9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

 The Tube Zone is open from 5-7 p.m. Friday, and noon-2 and 2:30-4:30 Saturday and Sunday.

Whispering Pines Ski Hill was closed Friday, but plans to be open Saturday and Sunday from 10-4. 

 Spring Lake Ski Hill is open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Little Smoky Ski Area is open from 10 a.m until 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Fairview Ski Hill is open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Misery Mountain is closed Friday night and plans to be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
