Energy Alberta conducting environmental field studies for Peace River Nuclear Power Project

Mar 10, 2026 | 7:43 AM

Energy Alberta is conducting a series of field studies near Peace River to support planning for the proposed Peace River Nuclear Power project.

Survey equipment and drilling rigs will be used to collect data related to geology, geotechnical, and groundwater conditions.

The data collected will be used to help ensure the project meets regulatory requirements and protects the natural environment.

The proposed power project is to be located roughly 30 kilometres north of the Town of Peace River and would generate up to 4,800 megawatts per year.

The project is privately owned by Energy Alberta and is not a Town project.

More details about the project can be found at Energy Alberta or the Town’s websites.
