Grande Cache couple collects $5 million lottery win

A Grande Cache couple has claimed a $5 million winfall from the Jan. 17 draw, after scanning their Lotto 6/49 ticket at home.

Wanda Rosa recalls seeing all the zeros and freezing up before saying a bad word in Polish, while her husband Slav reacted by saying, “oh, this is nice!”

Wanda says that it still doesn’t feel real, and they haven’t told anyone yet, “one of our sons still lives with us, and we haven’t even told him.”

The Rosas are now planning a trip to Europe to visit family and considering buying a new car; “we’ve been saving all our lives for retirement, so this is extra!” added Wanda.

“We got married 48 years ago,” said Slav, “so this is like a delayed honeymoon!”

The winning couple purchased their Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw Gold Ball winning ticket from the Petro Canada along Shand Avenue in Grande Cache.
