Snowfall warnings out for Fox Creek, Whitecourt, and areas to the south

Mar 12, 2026 | 2:58 PM

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has yellow warnings for snowfall in place for the Fox Creek and Whitecourt areas.

There are warnings out for the area that stretches along Highway 43 to the Edmonton area, along with a band that goes from Edson and Drayton Valley, to Rocky Mountain House and Red Deer, then southeast to Brooks and Medicine Hat.

The weather office is calling for heavy snow on Thursday, March 12, with 15 to 20 centimetres in some places. The snow is supposed to taper off Thursday evening.

Yellow warnings are issued when forecasters think the weather may cause damage or health impacts. Those impacts are “moderate, localized and/or short-term.”
