Spring arrives today (Friday, March 20).

The vernal equinox will happen at 8:46 a.m.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac says that is when the sun crosses the celestial equator, an imaginary line in space above the Earth’s equator.

While it is the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, it is the first day of fall in the Southern Hemisphere.
