Grande Prairie RCMP arrest armed robbery suspect

Grande Prairie RCMP have arrested a suspect following an armed robbery at a local store Monday.

On March 23 at 2:02 a.m., Mounties say a masked male with a rifle robbed a cannabis store, stealing money and cannabis before fleeing in a car.

RCMP located the suspect vehicle in a trailer park and apprehended the suspect when he attempted to flee on foot.

The suspect, a 32-year-old Grande Prairie resident, is facing 13 charges:

• Robbery with a firearm;
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
• Uttering threats;
• Failure to comply with court order (x5).
• Possession of property obtained by crime; and
• Other firearm-related offences (x4).

He was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie April 8.
