New speed limit signs to be installed on Emerson Trail

Mar 25, 2026 | 12:19 PM

The County of Grande Prairie says on behalf of the province, crews will be switching over speed limit signs on Highway 672, better known to locals as Emerson Trail.

The speed limit changes will be between Highway 2 and west of Range Road 63.

The speed limit on Highway 672 will be reduced to 80 km/hr from 300 metres west of Range Road 63 to the existing 60 km/hr zone, which is 1 km west of Highway 2, as directed by the Alberta Government.

Work is set to begin on Thursday, March 26, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. and is expected to wrap up the same day by 4:00 p.m.

During the sign switchover, there will be single-lane alternating traffic to accommodate for crews.

Drivers are being reminded to follow posted signage and temporary traffic lights, obey flag people, prepare for delays, or use an alternate route.
