The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division has put forward their nomination for the teacher they would like to see win the prestigious 2026 Alberta School Boards Association Edwin Parr Award.

The award is meant to recognize new teachers in the province that demonstrate excellence in the Teaching Quality Standard, as well as making a positive impact on the school community and students.

Allison Nichols, a first year teacher at Fairview’s St. Thomas Moore School, is the HFCRD’s nominee for the award this year.

Nichols teaches Kindergarten and has lengthy experience working with young children with a background in early childhood education and as an Educational Assistant.

The division says in a news release, “Her dedication, compassion, and ability to support diverse learners have earned her respect from both students and colleagues.”

STM Principal Thomas Fraser said in the same release, “Allison’s classroom is a testament to her belief in a loving, Christ-centered environment. She has a remarkable ability to see the individual needs of her students while simultaneously fostering a cohesive group dynamic where children feel safe to grow together.”

The division also says Nichols contributes to the school and community by supporting school events, engaging with families, and remaining active in her home community through School Council and local involvement.

The Edwin Parr Teacher Award for Zone 1 will be presented at the ASBA Banquet on May 13, 2026, in Peace River.
