Pelland, Spanish league volleyball team open playoffs with upset series win

Wanham’s Quinn Pelland and her team in the Spanish women’s volleyball league pulled off an upset to open the playoffs.

Pelland’s CV Harris side, the eighth-place finisher in the regular season, beat the first-place side, Ciutadella, 2-0 in their best-of-three opening round playoff series.

CV Harris won the second match 3-2 on Saturday, March 28, after a 3-1 win in the first match on Saturday, March 21.

Pelland’s team will open the semi-finals on April 11 against CD Heidelberg; the team that finished fourth during the regular season.

Both teams are based in cities located on the Canary Islands, located off the west coast of Africa.
